Cerulean Sins

Hmmm, what to say about this one. I enjoyed it, but when I was about half way through I had to make myself keep reading. It started out well, the character development was as wonderful as usual, but at about half way I wanted more plot and less sex. Once past that bit the plot started up again, but I had to make myself keep going.

As I said, however, the character development was superb. I so love Asher, he has taken up residence in my head just like all the others now. The sex with him Anita and Jean-Claude was brilliant, it just went on too long. To see Asher's fears and needs was fabulous, and I think Anita may have bitten off more than she can chew with that one.

Jean-Claude is still being harder with Anita, which I think is very good for her. He seems to have realised that she's too powerful to coddle anymore. This is better for both of them since he's thinking about his own needs more and she's realising how selfish she been.

I really liked the big bust up between her and the two boys and then the apologies. She really is a mixed up puppy.

Jason is wonderful. He is such a rich character and now I see why some of you think he knows so much about Anita; he understands her better than she understands herself. The whole conversation about wanting someone to look at him the way she looks at her men or they look at her was brilliant. I so hope he finds someone because he'll make someone very happy.

Nathaniel, le sigh. I so want to love him and make him safe forever. The spark of independence he's gained plays off against his need for Anita so well, and he's become deeper and deeper the more we see of him. Anita realises part of his sacrifice for her in Cerulean Sins (and more so in Incubus Dreams - I'm a quarter through). The fact that he is beginning to challenge her is very fulfilling.

Richard, now what can I say about Richard? He's still a dick, but one in melt down. I think Cerulean Sins is his low and he seems to be going up again in Incubus Dreams (I hope it continues). He always does everything at the wrong time, and in the wrong way, but at least he realised this in the end. He might actually be starting to grow up (at least I can hope).

Micah, Micah's just lovely, there is no other way to describe him. He is strong and yet vulnerable and he would do anything for Anita. I think she needed Micah before she could start coming to terms with herself because he accepts her completely. I hope LKH does not do something to ruin that relationship because it's important.

Belle was a little OTT, but I did like Mommy Dearest :). The banquet scene was superbly done and Musette was dealt with well, and I liked the child vampires - they seemed more dangerous than the adult ones. The vampire plot was good, but it did not come into its own until the second half of the book, but the police plot seemed almost throw away. I think I could have done without Dolph having a melt down as well - Richard is enough of a walking disaster area without adding Dolph in as well. It did, however, give Zerbrowski something interesting to do.

I liked this book, but I did not think it was anywhere near as well planned as NiC, although the character development was just as good.
