About this new Location thing LJ have implemented.
If I understand correctly the new feature is just giving the owner of the comm/LJ information that is already contained in the IP address if IP logging is on. It's giving country and city by looking up the IP. This is no more information than before because anyone can throw an IP into the numerous websites that give you that information.
As I understand it, it's also your IP's location, not necessarily yours.
For example, my IP is from my provider: 81.174.249.196, it says I'm in Kettering, Nottinghamshire because that is where my provider is based. I'm not, I'm in Kent.
Am I missing something? Is there more to this?
