Baking
I made bread!
Okay to some this might not seem like such a big deal, but I have never before, in my entire life made a successful loaf, not once. It's always yeasty and horrid, no matter how I follow the instructions on the packet. Basically I suck at baking bread. Give me anything else in the baking line and no probs, I'm there, but I have never mastered even a simple loaf.
So this time, after watching the Great British Bake Off, I did not follow the instruction on the packet, I looked some up online from the master baker they use and vola! bread :D. It had a lovely crust and was springy inside rather than being doughy. It was also very yummy - we ate it last night with spicy butternut squash and sweet potato soup (New Covent Garden - very nice - not too spicy, but very tasty).
*does happy dance*
Now I feel like trying something more complex than a simple multi-seeded loaf. :D
Oh, and Rob and I watched Beastmaster last night, for the (pick a large number here) times. I love that movie. It has all the fantasy tropes, but it's tightly plotted and beautifully shot. We shall never mention Beastmaster II or III, however.
