I am definitely dragging Soph to see it next week whether she likes it or not (she had a meeting last night so couldn't come with me and Rob). This one has to be seen in 3D.
This is the first movie I have ever seen to use 3D properly. It was not a gimmic used to make things jump out of the screen it was an effect used to enhance the amazing graphics. Graphics which are so good that even when humans and aliens are interacting, I never once thought, 'oh those are good graphics' I just accepted them as real people and places.
I cannot stress enough how brilliant I think this movie is.
The plot is cliché heaven, but, OMG, done so well it doesn't feel like it. The characters are 3D in all senses of the word :).
The only thing I think that wasn't done right was Jake's reaction to his twin's death (I do not consider this a spoiler because it's the premise for getting him into the Avatar program and starting the movie). There was the one comment once he reached Pandora and that was it, nadda. I think it would have been nice to have him deal with the grief I am sure he was repressing from the moment they offered him the Avatar gig (I feel a fanfic hole). That's it though; my only criticism :D
Oh, and I dreamed I was blue all night!
