Bill was bouncing up and down on the spot like a five year old on a sugar rush, which was one of the reasons Tom loved to buy his twin gifts. It didn't matter if he gave Bill something silly from the local shop or presented him with a bag with the Gucci label, Bill was always just as excited. This purchase had been delivered that morning in a very plain white box and came from an internet site that Tom had been browsing around for a few days.
"For me?" Bill asked, still bouncing as Tom held out the box.
Tom smiled at that; Bill never assumed when it was him giving the gift.
"Of course for you," he replied, enjoying the delighted expression on Bill's face enormously.
"What is it?" Bill asked, taking the box and retreating to their sofa.
Bill sat down with the box on his knees and looked up at Tom expectantly, making Tom laugh.
"Open it and find out, Dummkopf," he said and sat down next to Bill.
For that he received a half serious elbow to the ribs, but Bill was already ripping into the tape on the box. Bill really did revert to a kid when given presents; it was one of the things Tom found so incredibly endearing about his twin. How people could hate Bill he had never understood. Bill would give away his last gummy worm if he thought it would make someone happy, but somehow people out in the big wide world thought he just took everything he wanted. That Bill was in charge when they were out there with the band was a given, but every group needed a leader and Bill was theirs.
"Tomi," Bill squeaked when he made it into the package.
The light pink tinge to Bill's cheeks was absolutely adorable, not that Tom would say that out loud of course, because Bill didn't think of himself as adorable and Tom valued his health, but he couldn't help the smile that graced his lips.
"I saw it and knew you'd love it," he said, watching Bill reach into the box and run one manicured finger over the moulded plastic packaging.
Bill looked up at him then and smiled just a little, still embarrassed, but clearly pleased.
"You do love it, right?" Tom asked, needing to make sure, just in case.
"Of course I do," Bill replied and slowly pulled the packaging from the box. "Where on earth did you find it?"
"I have my sources," Tom replied, playing at being mysterious, even though he knew Bill would wheedle the URL out of him before the day was done.
He pulled out the scissors he had stashed in his pocket and handed them to Bill in an attempt to put off the inevitable. Bill grinned at that and set to work demolishing the sealed plastic and then throwing the waste over the back of the sofa in a very dramatic gesture. The way Bill held up his prize, running his hands over it, had Tom's thoughts going in so many directions; this was turning out to be better and better.
"I want to try it," Bill decided, embarrassment a thing of the past now that he was used to the idea.
Definitely better and better.
"Where?" Tom asked, licking his lips at the delicious ideas running through his head.
"Kitchen," Bill said with a truly inspirational smile and hopped up off of the sofa, totally forgetting about the box and scissors that tumbled onto the floor unnoticed.
Tom scrambled to follow; he wasn't missing a moment of this. He fumbled for the other things he had put in his pockets before giving the gift to Bill and pulled them free as Bill stood in the kitchen doorway and decided on something.
"There," Bill decided and pointed to the counter, before grabbing a near by chair and dragging it in front of where he had pointed.
They'd done this before so Tom knew to grab another chair on his way across the room as well and when it was in place Bill turned to him and reverently handed over the gift.
"Get the blinds," Bill said and kissed him on the nose.
