The first half hour is a little boring and I wanted to yell 'get on with it' at the screen, but the rest is entertaining.
Okay, first off - Shane ... I think my problem with him was I found him completely uninteresting and not overly attractive. His acting style is moody and where as David in the original had something and was animated, Shane strikes me as stoned half the time.
The other vamps were a bit too insane for me, and what was with the video camera? Dwayne, Marco and Paul from the original were bad boys with attitude and were just a little nuts, the three from this one (whose names I forget) really were bonkers. They also weren't anywhere near as pretty as the way out 80s boys ::g::.
That said, the two human leads were really good I thought, and I loved Evan, the wannabe boyfriend who almost got eaten. I did want to kill Aunt Jillian, however, she was trying to be like Grandpa from the original and just wasn't. She was simply annoying.
Chris (Tad Hilgenbrink the male lead) is very nice to look at and makes a very pretty vampire (far prettier than all the others). He's also a good actor IMO.
Corey Feldman as Edgar is superb - he's just gold. He uses some of the same lines as from the Lost Boys and he really is the best thing about the movie. He's the only bit that really captures the spirit of the original. The rest is not a bad vampire movie, it just isn't the Lost Boys.
The vampires are a little too easy to kill; there's not enough suspence. In the original it felt like there was hardly any chance they could win against David and the others. The fact that they managed it was a minor miracle. In this one there wasn't that tension. The vamps died in interesting and spectacular ways, but it was missing the edge. The only time I really felt the vamps were dangerous was when they were after Evan so Shane could feed him to Nicole to make her a full vampire.
I liked the alternative endings - if they do make a third one where Edgar and Sam are up against Alan I will definitely purchase it.
The one things that really disappointed me about the movie though ... they used many one liners, some from the original, but they did not use my favourite: "Burn rubber does not mean warp speed!" :)
So in conclusion - I liked it, didn't love it, but definitely liked.
