But I was thinking about it and y'know what my absolutely favourite bit of Christmas is?
It's not the presents or the dinner; it's at Midnight communion after most of the service is done; in our church we always sing 'O Come All Ye Faithful' as the last carol and it's the one day in the year we can sing the fourth verse with the right words:
Yea, Lord we greet Thee,
Born THIS happy morning,
Jesu, to thee be glory given,
Word of the father, now in flesh appearing
The church is always full and everyone looks so happy (some because they fell out of the pub and into church :)) and we all belt it out and it's just wonderful. That feeling is incredible; there's nothing quite like it and it is my absolute favourite time every Christmas.
