The nature of gifts ten, eleven and twelve were prescribed by the forms, but not the specific details of them. Harry had thought very long and hard about exactly what he wanted to say with the last three presents. He'd already made the point that he was serious by choosing the old forms in the first place, but that wasn't quite enough. Gift ten had to be a ring and Harry had chosen platinum inlaid with a perfect emerald. Emeralds were symbols of enduring love, very potent in love potions of all kinds, and he knew Draco would know that.
