Remus Friendship

Hi all, finally have enough brain power to update :)

The flower festival went superbly and we raised lots of money for our church :) I think I was at home maybe two hours whilst awake from Sat morning until yesterday. I did get online yesterday, but I managed to only get back as far at Sunday morning on my flist and then the internet decided that going slow was a really good idea.

So to the birthdays I am late getting to this week.
Happy Birthday to:
liljademoon and xocoatldreams for the 30th,
reilael, ocean_turtle and is_anonymous for the 1st,
blackwing_08 for the 2nd,
blindomelon and aetas_lupus for the 4th and
gabriel_kata for the 5th

This whole facebook/twitter malarky...

I can understand why you would want to send your entries to Twitter or Facebook (BTW twitterfeed.com has far more options and works really well - I use it to just tweet my fic updates), and comments might be useful occasionally for comment fic etc, but I can't see why you'd want to do it all the time.

It would be like posting part of a conversation that wouldn't make sense to anyone on your Facebook or Twitter.

I very rarely post anything locked, so I don't really care if your comments to any of my posts show up on Facebook or Twitter, but if I do not want it to happen for a particular post I will state so at the top and kindly ask you to respect it. Thanks.

[Edit: just tested out the whole comments from flock thing and they do repost, which seems utterly moronic to me, wonder if they'll fix that soon. I would hope so.]

[Edit: I do think that LJ should have an option on posts that allows you to refuse tweet/facebook repost of comments on your entry. A post is yours, it belongs to you alone, so it's yours to do what the hell you want with, but comments are often part of a conversation. By definition a conversation involves more than one person and so all should have to be in agreement for the conversation, even from only one side, to be rebroadcast in another medium. Just my two pennies worth :).]

[Edit: added my thoughts at the news post about it.]

Sometimes I think LJ has a very odd business model.

Looking at my flist, if I was LJ I would be rapidly removing the ability to repost comment to Twitter and Facebook until the code was in place to improve security on it. Not the reposting of LJ entries, just the comments. I think that may be the bit they haven't thought through too well.

Did they ask about his before they did it and I just missed it, or did they just go ahead and do it?

Although a full rollback would probably be easier until they sort it all out.
